China Hates My Website

Well, it finally happened. has been blocked by the Great Firewall of China. This means that my website is inaccessible from the vast majority of computers in China. The company which actually operates my site is based in the US, so it’s still accessible everywhere else on Earth. And since they’re blocking it using a method which is highly annoying but not especially effective (this is China, after all), a sufficiently motivated person in China can still access it, as I’m doing in order to write this post.

The short version of this is that my website is now much less useful to us here in China. As such, it will probably be updated less frequently than before. Sorry, all.

Oh, Sam! I was TOO sad, thinking I’d no longer see China through your lens. What’s the point of the block – doesn’t China have cell phones, DVDs, satellite TV and other ways to access info?
