Typhoon Wipha

Tomorrow should be interesting.

Typhoon Wipha, currently a Class 4 Typhoon, is headed towards China. It should make landfall a few hours south of Shanghai, in the early morning tomorrow. They’re evacuating over a million people from parts of Shanghai and other cities; they’re anticipating it being the most destructive storm in a decade. Current projections show it continuing overland on Wednesday and heading back to sea early on Thursday. We already have heavy rain and wind, and that’s just the edge of the system.

The projected path of the storm takes it directly over Zhangjiagang at about 9:00 tomorrow night. At that point it should be somewhere between at Category 1 Typhoon and a tropical storm.

Fun!

Yes this is a very dangerous situation. Wind speeds of 155MPH.

The number one thing is to BE PREPARED. Please go to this Web Site for instructions from the USA National Hurricane Centre on how to prepare. If you have any contacts in Shanghai please, please ensure everyone understands the EXTREME DANGER of this situation – this is a massive Hurricane. Do not mean to worry you but this information will save lives please pass it on.

I know what to do in a hurricane/typhoon situation. I grew up in the south-eastern US, and lived on the east coast of Florida for three years. We should be ok.
