Well, for no particularly good reason we’ve been on a karaoke kick recently. First, Steve and I have been doing karaoke with our high school English class. We’ve got a list of English songs, and they pick one and sing it. Great fun for all involved, and a nice last lesson before Christmas (we only see each group once every two weeks).

Then last night, we all decided to go out for a nice dinner at the French Bistro just down the street. After some great pizza, we headed over to a karaoke joint, aka KTV. Karaoke in China is somewhat different. A group (there were 7 of us) rents a private room with a sound system, TV, couches, and so on. It’s not the karaoke bar business model we see so often in the US.

It’s great, the entire city of Zhangjiagang looks as if a truckload of the tackiest Christmas decorations imaginable exploded all over. The entire staff at KTV was wearing these little Santa hats (not to mention the orange suits).

Anyway, we were there well into the night.
